Timeline of music video.

Little Red riding hood

in groups we storyboarded 30 frames onto sticky back notes which correspond with the story of little red riding hood. however we had to add elements of performance as it was a storyboard for a music video.  once we had all of our frames our teacher took away random frames, to create a disjuntictive narrative which is very common in music videos. these frames where then cut down to 10 on 1 sheet of paper to show us how there is only little narrative in music videos. This has helped me and the group in planning our storyboards for our own music videos and also how much narrative to have.This task taught me and the group that there is no need for larges amounts of narrative as perfromance and star image is the main focus of a music video.

Voyeurism within Music video's

The idea of voyeurism comes from Freud. This refers to the idea of looking in order to gain sexual pleasure. Goodwin draws upon this idea and argues;
The female performer will frequently be objectified by the males constant controlling gaze glued to the screen. A combination of editing, camerawork and body shots emphasising on the stars sexual display on screen. An example of the voyeuristic conventions within a music video is displayed.

However these conventions are also used within music videos for male stars. The use of the female body and also female as backing dancers surrounding the male star as adornments flattering the male stars ego. in the same way males objectify the female star, females will also sexually objectify the male star. the video bellow displays the ideas i have spoken about.
